Ana-Paula Correia, Ph.D.

Ana-Paula Correia is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University. She joined ISU in August 2005 from Indiana University where she completed her PhD in Instructional Systems Technology. She is currently teaching in the Distance Master of Education in Curriculum and Instructional Technology program.

Dr. Correia comes to ISU with a wealth of experience having most recently served as an instructional designer for Eli Lilly and Co, a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company. She has 10 years of teaching experience at both college and K-12 level. She taught science for five years at several Portuguese K-12 schools and educational technology and curriculum development in the teacher education program offered by the University of Minho.

Connie P. Hargrave, Ph.D.

Dr. Hargrave currently teaches the integration of technology in teaching and learning course for undergraduate students earning a minor in educational computing and the foundations of instructional technology course for the graduate program.

Her research examines use of conceptual change-based instructional strategies to develop student learning in science and instructional technology. The former manager of the Ames Laboratory Education Programs, she has worked in classrooms conducting hands-on and technology-based science projects with K-12 students.

Patricia Leigh, Ph.D.

Dr. Leigh is Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and teaches courses in instructional technology, educational foundations, and multicultural education. She is currently teaching social foundations of American education in the undergraduate teacher education program. In addition, she is teaching a course concerning the history of educational opportunities for African Americans and another that focuses on curriculum theory, both are graduate courses in the Curriculum & Instruction and Curriculum & Instructional Technology graduate programs.

Dr. Leigh's research scholarship focuses on the equality of educational opportunities, including access and use of technologies, historically afforded under served children and looks at the impact that economic discrimination and residential segregation has had upon their public schooling.

Dale Niederhauser, Ph.D.
Dr. Niederhauser currently teaches the undergraduate technology course for the teacher preparation program and Graduate classes that emphasize learning theory and instructional design. He taught in a Head Start program for five years, supervised student teachers in grades K-6 and taught an introduction to education class for secondary preservice teachers. His research interests focus on the development of teachers' personal theories about teaching and learning, and how those theories influence their use of technology. More Information TOP

Denise Schmidt, Ph.D.

Dr. Schmidt is an Assistant Professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department. In addition to teaching instructional technology and reading methodology courses, she coordinates the undergraduate educational computer minor program offered by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Human Sciences.

She conducts research about the use and integration of technology in teacher education and K-12 schools. Dr. Schmidt directs a number of grants that link K-12 teachers, area education agencies and university faculty and students in collaboratives that support the diffusion of technology-supported innovations in schools. A former elementary teacher, she works extensively with K-12 teachers on the integration of technology into teaching and learning.

Ann Thompson, Ph.D.

Dr. Ann Thompson is an University Professor and the Founding Director
/Senior Advisor for the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University. She began her career as a high school mathematics teacher at Burlingame High School in Burlingame, California.

She earned her BA in mathematics from Pomona College, her MAT in mathematics education from Stanford University and her Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Thompson joined the former College of Education at Iowa State University in 1981 and since that time, she has focused her work on technology applications in learning and teaching. Developing, testing, and disseminating models for using students to work one-on-one with faculty and teachers to help in the development of technology expertise, has been a major interest.

Clyciane Kossatz Michelini, M.S.

Clyciane Michelini is the Instructional Development Coordinator for the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching (CTLT) and the Program Coordinator for this Masters' program. She works very close with faculty on course design, professional development, and program management.

Mrs. Michelini is originally from Brazil and holds a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies. Distance education; technology integration in K-12 curriculum; faculty and teacher development in technology use in learning and teaching; and instructional design are some major interests.
